  • How to Locate Modem Software for Dialup?
ISP Dail Up

Picture
Unlike the old days when every computer came with a dialup modem, it is a different scenario today. So you will have to do some searching and looking around to know if your computer has the modem in it. There is one easy way of doing it. Look for a port that resembles a telephone jack and see if the telephone cable fits into it. Based on what you find and how well the telephone cable fits in, you can say if your computer has the in-built-in dialup modem.

The three things that can happen are:

  • The telephone cable fits in perfectly. This will tell you that this is indeed the dialup modem port and you can connect the telephone line to this port. However, if you want to use your telephone and the computer from the same jack, you will have to get a splitter. This device will go into the wall jack and the phone cord for the computer and the telephone will go into the splitter.
  • If your port is slightly bigger than the phone port, it can imply that you have a port for broadband connection. This type of port is known as an Ethernet port.
  • If you find two ports behind the system or the tower and into which the telephone cord fits in, it also means that your computer has a dialup modem.
Now you are ready to get dialup connection from a good service provider. There are well-known names like BasicISP. For $8.95 per month you will get unlimited internet access, email service, toll-free support and great customer service. Basic ISP also has a nationwide presence in U.S.
